The blank-page problem

You've connected your accounts. Your transactions are flowing in. Now comes the hard part: setting budget amounts.

How much should you budget for groceries when you shop at both Mercadona in Spain and Costco in the US? What's a reasonable dining-out budget when restaurant prices vary wildly between countries? How do you account for foreign transactions that fluctuate with exchange rates?

Most people either guess wildly (and abandon the budget in two weeks) or spend hours analyzing bank statements to figure out realistic amounts. Neither is a good use of your time.

Borderless Budget's AI skips the guesswork. It looks at what you've actually been spending, factors in your savings goal, and generates a budget that's realistic from day one.

Choose your savings goal

Three modes, one question: how much do you want to save?

Aggressive

Cut discretionary spending where possible. The AI looks for categories where you're spending more than typical and suggests meaningful reductions. Essential categories like rent and utilities stay realistic.

Good for

Building an emergency fund, paying off debt, saving for a move

Moderate

Popular

A balanced approach. Small reductions across discretionary categories without feeling restrictive. You'll save more than you are now without major lifestyle changes.

Good for

Steady saving, building good habits, most people

Maintain

Match your current spending. No cuts, no pressure. The AI generates a budget that reflects how you already spend, so you can track and understand your money without trying to change anything yet.

Good for

New to budgeting, getting started, understanding patterns

How AI budget generation works

1

We analyze your spending

The AI looks at your categorized transactions across all your accounts, how much you spend in each category, over time. It identifies patterns: your fixed costs, your variable spending, and categories where spending fluctuates month to month.

2

You pick a savings goal

Choose aggressive, moderate, or maintain. This tells the AI how much to trim from discretionary categories. Essential spending (rent, utilities, insurance) stays realistic regardless of your goal.

3

Review and adjust

The AI generates a complete budget with amounts for every category in your home currency. Review each amount. Adjust anything that doesn't feel right. Apply the budget when you're ready, or regenerate with different parameters.

4

Live with it, then refine

Use your generated budget for a month. See what's realistic and what needs tweaking. Adjust individual categories or regenerate the whole budget anytime. The AI gets smarter the more history it has to work with.

Smart enough for multi-currency life

Most budget generators assume you spend in one currency. Ours doesn't. If your groceries are split between accounts in Spain and the US, the AI sees all of it and factors the converted amounts into one realistic budget number for that category.

Your "Dining Out" budget might come out to $200/mo because the AI sees you spend roughly $120 on restaurants in Madrid (converted from EUR) and $80 on meals in the US. It figures this out from your spending history, you don't need to calculate conversions yourself.

Your budget amounts are in your home currency, so they stay stable and predictable. When you want to see what you actually paid at that restaurant in Madrid, just toggle to the original currency view on the transaction.
